PRODUCT INFORMATION
We’re excited about this new single origin (well we would say that wouldn’t we) but seriously, this one from Costa Rica has grabbed us right by the goolies.

It’s soaked in a milk chocolate sweetness and a great big whomp of sticky citrus. That jammy juiciness comes from the honey process, which allows the coffee to gain some gentle fermented flavours from a slick of coffee cherry pulp being left on the beans. This means they develop some big woofty flavours before milling. This one is tasting particularly naughty through v60 and Kalita, but we’ve just tested it as an espresso and it’s goooood!

More info

This new single origin coffee from Costa Rica has caused quite a stir in the roastery this past week. As folks who drink more than their fair share of coffee, and get to taste a lot of different single origins, this one has slapped us round the chops and given us a right good talking to. It’s got super delicious sticky citrus notes romping through it. But with all that fruit, there’s also this warmth, a kind of depth that makes this a pure bloody winner for these fresh autumn mornings.

What is the honey process?
That extra fruity flavour profile is brought along thanks to the honey process. This is where the coffee cherries are de-pulped, but with a little bit of the fruit still left in contact with the beans, which kind of resembles a honey slick on the coffee. The beans are then left to dry and that honey pulp is removed when the coffee is milled. The result - a sweet fruit cocktail infusion into what is arguably one of the finest single origins we’ve had so far this year.

The La Pastora Costa Rican single comes from a co-op that was set up way back in the 1960’s by farmers seeking fairer market conditions. Today it’s the biggest cooperative in the country and every bean sold by them carries the Fair Trade Certification.

So what you got?
A crazy delicious coffee, from an O.G fair trade coop in Costa Rica. It’s one for your mug right now. So go get at it.
