The Druid: An Interview With Lukas Krol

We did a bit of a back and forth with Lukas Krol over in Czech Republic.

We did a bit of a back and forth with Lukas Krol over in Czech Republic. He’s the artist that did our new Druid t-shirt artwork. It’s a longwinded story of how we came to work together, and we’re stoked with the end result. Here’s Lukas:

You have a lot of tattoos. Got any favourites?

It's hard to choose a favourite, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be my very first tattoo. It’s a black-and-white uroboros, and while it's stylistically quite different from the rest of my tattoos, it holds a lot of nostalgic value for me. It marks the beginning of my tattoo journey, so it will always be special.

Weirdest one?

The weirdest tattoo I have is probably a turkey wearing a hat – a nod to my favorite show Friends. And then there’s a grim reaper, which is a recreation of the tattoo Robert De Niro had in Cape Fear. Both are a bit odd, but they have great personal meaning to me.

Favourite movie?

I’m a huge fan of Blade Runner. The mix of sci-fi, philosophy, and dystopian aesthetics is timeless for me.

Favourite chocolate bar?

That’s a tough one. I do like sweets, but I rarely buy chocolate for myself. However, when it does make its way into the house, I can go through it pretty quickly! It’s usually Kinder chocolate – simple but dangerously addictive.

Flat white or filter?

Flat white, always!

Pen or paintbrush?

I’ve always been more drawn to the pen. I used to doodle in notebooks and sketchpads way more than I ever spent time with a paintbrush. Even now, a paintbrush rarely finds its way into my hands.

Tell us about a place you’ve been recently and loved?

This summer, I visited Krakow, a city I’ve always enjoyed. Every time I go, I discover something new. It has a unique mix of history, culture, and atmosphere that keeps me coming back. Whether it’s exploring the old town or finding hidden spots, there’s always something special about Krakow.

Music - what's getting air time in your studio right now?

This year, I’ve really switched to Spotify playlists. Since I spend a lot of time in the office, long playlists are perfect for keeping me going while hearing a variety of bands. Lately, I’ve been into skate punk and metal playlists, but I also mix it up with some 80s hits now and then.

Tell us about the last time you got in trouble.

I usually get into trouble when I forget to clean up after myself at home. It always really annoys my girlfriend, and she definitely lets me know about it, haha. But aside from those little moments, I can't think of anything major. I live a pretty peaceful life.

You drink coffee right? What’s your intake looking like? Flat whites, straight espressos, filter?

I use a mocha pot with ground beans, and I love making flat whites—mostly because of the creamy texture. It’s my go-to coffee for starting the day.

We read somewhere that you’re into the occult, which fits pretty well with this design you just did for us. Ever done the ouija board? Got any dark stories to tell?

I’ve always been drawn to the occult, especially the darkness and mystery surrounding it. Whether it’s films or graphic designs, that atmosphere really captivates me. But I’ve never actually gotten into summoning spirits or performing any rituals. My interest has always been purely visual—fascinated by the aesthetics and symbolism, rather than the practice itself.

When you’re not making badass wizard artwork, what can you be found doing? We heard you like motorcycles…

Yeah, motorcycles are definitely a big passion of mine, though I haven’t had as many opportunities to ride this year. But whenever I can, I love going on motorcycle trips, camping out, and sitting around a fire. Besides that, I’m a bit of a geek—I enjoy reading comics, watching movies, and playing video games. My evenings are often spent either watching the latest films or playing post-apocalyptic games with friends. Sometimes I feel like I’m still a teenager.

Easy Rider - Peter Fonda or Dennis Hopper?

Peter Fonda was great, but honestly, Jack Nicholson made the biggest impression on me. His character added just the right amount of comic relief and quirkiness that took the film to another level.

Czech is pretty cool huh. Top five spots we need to check out next time we head over?

I could list the classic tourist spots like Prague Castle, Český Krumlov, and Kutná Hora... – they’re all amazing places.

But the Czech Republic is so much more than just the popular sites.
I’d rather recommend five regions: Šumava, Krkonoše, Pálava, Jeseníky, and Bohemian Switzerland. These areas are full of stunning nature and fascinating spots to explore, perfect for anyone who loves outdoor adventures.
